Hello - I've just had a pond dug (about 2 acres) and it is about 80% full. I have recently planted grass seed all around the banks and damn to try and clear the water as well as control errosion. I just noticed a small amount of yellow film -- it almost looks like yellow paint that is starting to build on the surface -- it's just a real small amount, but I don't know what it is...any help??

Do you have a lot of trees around, sounds like it might be pollen from local plants settling on top of the water.

Well I do have a bunch of trees (oak) near one end of it -- never really thought about it being pollen! Great tip! Thanks much!!

Coachbarns--Have pond in Ben Wheeler just off hwy. 64 , am thinking about enlarging it ,apprx 4 acres now but the land behind the pond looks like it would work for enlargment, What type pond did you have dug, shape? depth? cost? [if you don't mind ] are you happy with the results, did the contractor build ridges etc.any other info appreciated - Thanks Harvey.

Hello Harvey --

I had a basic teardrop pond built - I really didn't know much better -- original thought was to have it "swimable" by the kids -- but now I'm going to go after a good fishin' hole as well. My contractor was VERY good in terms of layout, shooting the grade, staking it out etc..and would have built ridges if i would have wanted him to. He built all the ponds at Dallas Baptist University, so he knows what he's doin' -- and he's a personal friend. I'd be more than happy to have you over and take a peak at my place. Shoot me an email and I'll give you my phone number. scott@coachbarnes.com. Take care -- Scott
