So since I am away from home and Suttles fish farm is right up the road, I thought I would take a trip and visit the place my fish came from and also to get some knowledge. It was very cool to see how they raise their fish and the info I got from Randy (guy who runs the place) who also show me how much more agressive F-1`s are over FL strain. I hope yall enjoy the video and if you are in the market for some fish please give them a call they have crazy good costumer service! I can speak from experience!

Very disturbing to see lack of response from Fla bass toward feed compared with F1.

On the other hand, I got the Lone Star Legacy Fla strain, maybe they are more aggressive.

The debate continues...

anthropic,
I have the Lone Star Legacy Fla strain and they are very aggressive fish. They have been easy to catch on many different types of artificial and live baits. Seems like early morning and late evenings I see them actually knock small bluegills out of the water landing on the bank and the bluegill are trying to get back the water. They put up a great fight on a rod.

FL strain bass after they reach a certain size are very difficult to catch, that is why when you come to FL and fish with a guide 90% of them use shiners. Alot of the biggest bass I have caught here in FL have came from night fishing when they can not see the lure in detail. On the other side of things when I have taken trips to MN I have caught large mouth in the middle of the day on frogs one after the other. Could be due to there aggressiveness or due to the fact they are not as pressured as they are in other parts of the country.

Joe, thanks for the reply. Makes me feel better about a very difficult stocking decision of LSL vs F1 Tiger LMB. Hard for an amateur to know what to do when the real experts don't agree!

I deliberately don't fish much for LMB in my BOW, focus on ultralight or flyfishing for CNBG. Trying hard NOT to cause uncatchability!

I agree with your observations, as my dad used to take me on fishing vacations in Florida. Goal: 10 lb LMB. I think I had one on once in the St Johns River, but sadly my drag malfunctioned and that was that. We fished for years on famed Lake Jackson in Tallahassee after it reflooded -- unbelievable how many 12 to 14 lb bass mounts we saw at Red's boat rental there -- but never actually caught anything over 7 lb.

Meanwhile, back in the weedy shallow areas of Lake Champlain in New York, northern strain LMB were eager biters. Quite a contrast!
