Has anyone here ever had a bass take a fairly large crappie? My dad was fishing our Bass and Crappie pond and had a crappie a bit bigger than his hand on his line. Then a monster bass grabbed that crappie and ran with it for awhile. It then let go and he reeled the crappie in, which is how he knows the size of the crappie. I was curious if someone else ever had something similar. I've never seen one try to get such a big crappie.

Had one do that a couple of times one day. Went back the next day with heavy line, bluegill, and a float. Didn't get a hit... Two weeks later a guy caught a 10lb'r in the same area. I think that was my one chance at a 10. frown

OH yeah rule of thumb is a LMB can eat at least 1/3 it's length. So if you have a 24 inch bass it can and will try to eat something 8 inches in length. And Considering most 10 pound bass push about 26 inches long that would be almost 9 inches. So I could see it if they were real hungry...
