Thinking that my order of Tilpia was going to be 3-5 ", I went ahead and started to treat my pond with Cutrine. I treated one bank 180'and 4' out yesterday morning. The Tilapia was supposed to be delivered by 10am yesterday morning, then 3pm, then 7pm, I finally got them in the water at 9:30pm last night. To my surpise they were around 1/4#,and I ordered 25# so I figure I got 80 to 100 Tilpia. Went out to the pond this morning to feed, and no floaters were found so thats good. I will check again this afternoon when I feed. Would not have bought so many if I knew they were going to be that big, will give some to my brother-in-law this weekend if I can get some of them out. What is a good bait the use on them, never fished for Tilapia before. They were in good condition considering they came from Alabama to Kentucky and being in the tanker all day.

The best bait I found was to take about two cups of pellets and grind them in a food processor or coffee mill, mix in 1/4 of flour, 1 egg and enough water to form a stiff dough. Put a pea sized ball on a small trout hook and fish under a small bobber with no weight on 4lb test line.

I put 15 big males in my Male CNBG pond a month ago and caught and release 5 of the 15 Tuesday evening with 1" pieces of night crawler on a #6 Mustad hook with the barb bent down. Hook the worm piece on each end with no weight and a very small float. The bite is extremely light almost like crappie fishing when they are finicky.

Brian, sorry for not answering sooner, thought this post was dead. Three of us here went in and bought 225 lbs of them. I have not been billed as of yet, but my 25lbs will cost me somewhere around 200.00. They came from Alabama, but I dont know the name or county, could find out for you if you want. I was a little disappointed in them, I bought them for FA control but they did not clean my pond. I put them in on May 2nd and the FA contuined to grow untill it covered the entire pond. I made the gadget with the wire ties and rope and my wife and I cleaned the pond (took two complete days) then I sprayed Curtine Plus and applied Aquashade three days ago. Yesterday I installed an aerator that I bought from Ted Lea of Forever Green and so far so good, will know more in a few weeks. My problem may be too many fish I first stocked 12LMB 500BG 50CCats 25RE than added 25# of Talapia, not counting all the spawnings that have taken place. I have not harvested any of the fish so I am sure I have too many. I am going to try the suggestions from Family Tradition and Ryan Freeze on catching some Talapia.
