I think that my stocking guy "did me a favor" when he stocked my pond last year. I was out picking up food from him and his son was there. He told me there big pond looks so nice because they took all of the catfish out of it.

Well I have noticed and over abundance of catfish and I've put 2 and 2 together and I am overloaded with big fat cats. I've taken out about 20 but the others have become smart. I want the LMB to be the apex predator.

Anyone ever net them or shoot them over bait? Any suggestions appreciated, I wish I would not have let him stock cats. mad If I only knew then what I know now.

BOW fishing over food works. Trot lines work. Stinky bait works.

All of that is my experience in Texas, your milage may vary.

Todd,
How many cats do you think you have? I guess if they won't bite, electro - shocking is an option. We used to catch them years ago in slat traps, but the bait would require a slight current in the water to be effective. The traps are now outlawed in some states. Good luck, keep posting your progress.

...when in doubt...set the hook...

It takes work but you can net them over food.

Feed in front of net for a few days then when they show up pull in the lines and sort out any CC.
