My 1/4 acre pond is covered in all of the shallow areas with this vegetation. I plan to treat chemically but want to make sure I use the correct treatment. Any help with the ID will be much appreciated.
That's Chara, aka Skunkweed - a form of algae, and not a plant. Cutrine Plus Granular is my standard go-to treatment for Chara (60 lbs per "treated" acre, usually around the perimeter or shallow areas). The sooner you treat the better - before it becomes calcified and much more resistant to treatment-efforts.
Thanks Kelly. That is what I thought but wanted to confirm. I have removed as much as I can manually and already ordered the treatment, which should arrive and be applied Friday.
