Caught 20 this evening out of one of my holding ponds and kept the following three for sale to other taxidermists. Were in the 14 3/8 to 14 1/2 range with the biggest one weighing 1 lb. 12 1/2 oz. They have grown about 1/2 inch or slightly more since they were put into the pond last May or June.

The rest either went to the spawning cage (five males and five females so far) or the big pond of female only perch.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Thanks. Btw Happy belated Birthday!

Should be 19 more in that pond about the same size. Will be seining in a day or two.

If you know the number of big YP stocked last year it will be educational to see how many survived after a year.

Put in 22 so 19 left. Actually released one other big one because her eggs weren't as developed as I wanted them to be.

Not bad considering they were raised in a RAS with nuclear waste water and had a 60 psi enema just before being photographed. Keep up the experiments Dr Frankenbaird!!!

Really nice YP Cecil!! Is that some PP I see on the floor? laugh

Did you notice a really fast increase in egg mass size in the last month or so?

Not PP -- Aquashade.

Can't say on the egg mass increase as I was not sampling until now.

No wonder they grow so big for you. Their eyes bulge out so much they can see all the food around them.

Cheers Don.

Dono those bulging eyes are due to the 60 psi

Not sure what causes the bulging eyes. But I only see it on the egg laiden females.

Maybe stress of the heavy egg load, when pulled out of the water, and/or fighting the hook? Or the overdose of clove oil to euthanize them?

I thought it looked purple... I think some bleach would get it up off the floor.

Nice fish! I looked at a couple of ponds today, no skeins showing.

I was wrong Scott. When I thought about it a little I realized it's purple pvc primer!

Well then there's no hope for getting it off the floor.....

Been there, done that and it's still stained!

I hope the seining goes smoothly. Get everything put away before it gets dark out. They are calling for severe storms tomorrow night.
