First....truly grateful for all the contributions so many have made to this forum...has really been helpful. Quick background an old natural pond in ne Ohio...pretty much surrounded by trees...about 1/4 acre....5 or 6!years back decided to get serious on getting it productive again...Aeration and bacteria and the " right" balance of bg and lmb biomass Etc. I know this because 2 years ago we had really cold winter and did not know of 39 degree pond temp rule and left aeration on in deepest part of pond....I scooped the correct quantity of dead lmb and bg at ice out...most were 18 inches.....a few 24" (Thank you...shallow water winter aerator still going) Anyway, also about 2 years ago we started to get huge rainstorms that totally overwhelmed our tiny wetland upstream and became inundated with high phosphate overflow. ( all this weather change pure coincidence?) Finally got on board for adding alum last summer ...but....did not discover alum/water premix ratio......for those that know pretty sure I had it inverted.........not as successful as I had hoped.....but back at it this year...... ......so.... The FA question is this.....we have a gorgeous crop going...both Matt and great stuff on bottom just waiting to float. ( I recall many years ago a biologist telling me ......so you want to break the cycle of kill the weeds.....feed the next generation etc. well I thought I did that.....primarily from aeration....and maybe a small bump from bacteria.) ....wait for it....do I do a treatment or two with cutrine plus then wait till magical 50 degrees and to alum (correctly) proportioned) what is the best strategy from where I am at?
Dick....Offer a sincere thank you to someone today. You just made the world a better place.....unless you teach someone to fly fish...then you really make a difference!

Read the label on the algaecide. It may say not to apply until water temp of 60 degrees.
