If I went with a pond kit, how should i determine what size in relation to the amount of gallons in the pond?

The aeration kit should have enough diffusers and produce enough volume of air at the depth that the diffusers are installed at to turn over the pond at least once per 24 hrs.

They company that you are purchasing the system from should be able to do the calculations for you. You should be asked what shape the pond is, and even asked if you can furnish a link to a satellite view of the pond. You might also be asked what the water depth is, where the deepest places are, and where the electric is on the property. If not, find another company. Don't rely on "this will do "X" size pond" because not all ponds are equal.

A system for a pond that has a lot of fingers and coves in it will need a different system than one that is oval or round in shap, even if they both have the same surface area and are the same volume of water.

A few questions for clarity....The pond is going to be a 25 X 35 feet or approximately 900 square foot surface area, correct? What is your goal for the pond? How deep will it be?

about 3-4 feet im thinking. Originally it was going to be a more natural pond, but seeing as i am not pursuing that piece of property, i am considering a more ornamental pond with waterfall, lights etc...

I would do some research on pond depth, sunlight penetration and what contributes to underwater weeds/algae growth.

Yeah i just grazed that surface. Im taking it step by step. First determining whether i need clay, liner or nothing at all. Than IF i decide to add a waterfall / skimmer etc... what size etc... I'll be adding plants and what not which can also help with the algae, also placement of the pond itself.
