I haven't kept up with stocking rates like I should. I'm stocking a 2.5 acre pond in central Texas, it went dry in the 2011 drought, but hasn't been stocked since.
I'm just wanting to make it a perch jerking pond for my kids, but I might think about some bass in a couple years. I'm going to stock fathead minnows at about 10-20 lbs per acre, but I'm not sure on what kind of bream and at what rates. Bluegills, hybrids, shellcrackers, ???
Can you guys please help me out?

Hey Blake,
FWIW IMHO if you are not going to stock LMB, or another top tier predator, then you probably don't want to stock BG as they tend to overpopulate and stunt. I would probably go with the HBG in Illinois. Maybe one of the Texas guys will offer you some more pertinent advice for a Texas pond.

Blake, Call Overton's and ask Todd about current stocking rates and types. For me, I would stock RES and CNBG. I would also add a few CONFIRMED female LMB to control the CNBG numbers. The amount of Female LMB would depend on your goals.
Todd can help sort that out with you.
