I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years now and am looking to supplement the stream water feeding our 1 acre pond at 7700’ in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico with an aerator, as our trout (18” to 24” Rainbows and Browns now after stocking them as fingerlings five or six years ago) in the warmer months seem sluggish on release after catching them on barbless hooks the few times we’ve done it.
I’ve been looking at the Thomas 2450 rocking piston pump with adequately sized membrane disk diffusers. But I am in a quandary as to how these pumps mount. I’ve looked at lots of pictures and the Thomas drawings and see no “feet” or even a place to attach such. On the Thomas 2660 there look to be bosses on the bottom which, unlike the 2450 which is just cylindrical, at least keeps the pump oriented in an upright position – therefore I’m looking at that one. I know that the capacitor just hangs loose and also needs mounting but no problem there.
Also while I’m at it, any suggestions as to what membrane diffusers to get?
Does anybody know and are willing to share info on this?
As a side note, I’m a little annoyed by the paucity of articles in Pond Boss concerning trout, although I’m basing this on two-year’s subscription. I haven’t had time to comb through the back-issues offering in detail yet. See
www.horseshoemeadow.com for pictures etc.
Thanks, JemezTrout (Indian word Jemez pronounced “Hey-mes”)
