Time for a new one. One thing I can't figure out is what the SD card slot is for.

Anybody know?

when you try to update the maps, there is not enough memory in the GPS so you have to install a SD card for the update

Could also be used for new maps and saving waypoints, routes, etc. Used the marine version for years (almost 20 now) and comes in very handy.

Maps, way points, tracking etc. Most depth finder companies will offer after sale upgraded maps. Not sure what Garmin uses, but they will offer software updates that are installed via the SD card also.

Was typing when lassig posted. He got it.

Well, the reason I asked is that I can download map updates from my puter. Who needs an SD card?

I just updated our land based Garmin in preparation for the trip we're on right now. The update took 3GB of our data allowance to complete, but no SD card was necessary.

How did I ever go anywhere without this thing...I'm sitting in a hotel room outside McDonough GA. right now, because our Garmin unit indicated a 2 hr. delay on I-75 running through Atlanta.

Would've hated to been stuck in THAT.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

I'm looking for a new one because I want LMT. We also lost the plastic gizmo that clips on the back for our dash mount. I could buy another clip but, like you, the LMT is something I could enjoy.
