I have a pond in North Collin County Texas that is choked with coontail. I need to find someone to treat the grass. I have been trying to get Bob's men out since last June but they must be too busy for a one acre pond. I need a name for work around Blue Ridge, Texas.

Bill it will probably be an on-going battle
and multiple treatments are many times needed.
Hired treatment is also usually not cheap.

Almost all of the pond mgt companies are swamped
this time of year.

Bill, I too had the same problem in my 2 acre pond. One solution is using Fluridone (Alligare is the product I used) which is very easy to apply but a bit pricey. And I did need to treat it the second year but have not had any since. It's a slow death (4-6 weeks) so you need to be patient, but the slow death is a good thing in ponds regarding a possible DO crash.

I would go on about the advantages and disadvantages of Fluridone but I'd likely misinform you so I'll leave that up to the experts.

It's one possible solution and very easy to apply.

Thought. In smaller pond situations, if you apply an expensive but effective chemical yourself vs hiring a company to do it that uses a less expensive chemical the two costs would likely be very close in final price. Knowledgeable members here could provide some advice after you provide some answers to questions. Fluridone products are effective on coontail.
