any info on what ray scott is using for his aeration of his 25 acre lake thanks

I had the privelege to perform an elctroshcok analysis opn his pond last year. I'm not sure he wants everyone to know what he is using, but it is homemade and the water quality of the pond is wonderful as result of it. It is postioned near the dam in deepwater, but basically destratified the entire pond.

We didn't get any huge ones. Several over 6 lbs. though. Beleive it or not shocking does not get all the fish like some would think. Incredible forage base and as a result the bass were footballs.

I've had some experience shocking when I worked for my state DNR. I'm convinced that a lot of the biggest bass (at least here in the north) are deeper and out of reach of electroshockers - even D.C. I don't believe really big bass come up in the shallows all the time at least here in the north. Do you concur?

As a fish taxidermist I see some really big bass that no one would really guess are in a lake that is repeatedly surveyed. I'm also seeing the average size go down in our public lakes due to various reasons. I personally believe that a bass that is caught and released a couple of times gets much harder to catch.

I could not agree more, big ones stay deeper thus harder to capture. The timing of electrofishing is very important if you want to try and capture some of the bigger bass. I think some people have me check their pond for the chance of seing some big bass. I do it to analyze the population dynamics of the fishery. If folks call after June I tell them if they want to catch the big ones wait until about now thru mid October to increase the chances. I get alot more big ones in the spring and fall, but got a 9.4 this August in a typical bass heavy pond when the water temp was 89. Go figure.

tell you what I will try to talk to Ray about the system. I want to see if it is ok to talk about how it works. He may be interested in trying to sell it. He calls it his "Lake Life" pump. I'm with you... one unit to destratify a big pond. I was basically suspect myself. The Do at the surface was 14.3 mg/l and near the bottom at 22 feet it was 6.2 mg/l. Impressive, yes indeed!

Greg, sorry for the two mess ups. Just learning the format here. I would also be interested in viewing the aeration system that Ray Scott is using. Although it may not be practicle where I am constructing ponds.

FH, you did some digging to find this old thread. I just sold two of his video's so I'm calling it in on Mon, and will see if he has a few mins to talk. I'll keep y'all posted if I ever get the details of his system (and his permission to tell all).
