Hi There,

I am hoping someone here is able to help me out. I have been looking for a small lake/group of ponds to rent out for a weekend fishing get away.

Me and 9 of my friends have been doing a Bass fishing tournament for the last 9 years. Typically we try and rent out an entire piece of property from Thursday night until Sunday, and so it needs to have 4 or 5 small boats and a cabins for us to rent as well.

We have used several fishing ranches across Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. I am just wondering if maybe we could find some new ones we haven't found yet.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hello, and welcome to Pondboss.

Nothing in the states you mentioned immediately comes to mind, but perhaps someone will chime in. Would you have any interest in going somewhere in Illinois?

We frequently have questions and comments from folks who have LMB overpopulation problems....maybe someone with such a situation will see your post and respond. Having your group come and remove every bass caught could really be a nice "win-win".

Good luck!

I appreciate it! I have scoured the internet for places in those states. Illinois is a little far for us.

I was hoping to find someone who maybe wants to make some extra cash but doesn't rent out their place actively. One of the problems that we are running into is that some of the places we have been going while gorgeous and private...have been way over fished.

We paid 5k for the weekend last year so it might be worth it to someone who doesn't normally let the public use their waters or facilities.

pickleboy, welcome to the forum. I sent you a PM (Private Message) with some info. Take a look up above. Next to "My Stuff" you'll see a blinking icon. Click on that and it will open up your private message folder.

Shoot, 5K + someone removing all the LMB they can catch....sounds like a great deal. Hope you can find something. If nothing shows up here on the forum, consider contacting some of the lake management companies in the states you mentioned. There might be a fisheries management company that will know of a situation that would work for you and for one of their clients.

Thanks esshup!

Here are few of the places I have been to or have been looking at so if anyone else has the same question...

http://www.anglersparadise.biz/ - We went here for four years and liked it. We have a much larger group so it is tough to get the entire thing on a weekend and thats the only way we can go with a group our size. (That's a member of our group and his wife on the front page of this site.)

http://trophycountry.com/fishing/ Place was cool but just didn't click. We didn't even get to fish the "best" body of water b/c all the boats were taken or it wasn't accessible or something.

The place we went the last two years and loved is no longer available so these are the best spots I have found...

http://www.tedturner.com/turner-ranches/turner-ranch-outfitting/ I figured Ted Turner has to have some good bass fishing on his land!

http://www.rayscottbassretreat.com/ Little far for us...but it's fishing!

And then here is another that looked promising...

http://www.quantumlakes.com/ourbasshabitats.html

Here is another one in Texas...

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

What about Nate's new place? Has it been open thru the transition of property owners?

Good idea. Give Nate Herman a shout. http://www.hbpondmanagement.com/

Maybe not Monster LMB (by southern standards), but definately a variety of fish!

I was thinking about Nate's also-he's got an unbelievable set up in the works. And he could definitely put some LMB anglers on great fish that he wants removed......sounds like Illinois might be a bit far away for these guys, however.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. We are ALWAYS looking for good places to fish. If not this year then maybe next. This also doesn't mean I can't fish it myself without the group smile I'll travel further than most for good bass fishing smile I am actually in Virginia. SO any recommendation this way would be much appreciated as well. We gather from all over the US for our little fishing tournament.

We are good guests as well. We always make sure we follow the rules. We take care of the land and we will do catch and release or keep what we catch if that is the land owners preference. We don't mind paying a fair price for some great fishing and solitude. (This is our ONE trip a year away from the families and the jobs and we have been doing since college.)

Thanks again for the suggestions.

You didn't make a mistake. Steve has some good water holes and manages them well.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
