i was sweating bullets for a bit, my pond was not prethought nor did i have a plan. Then i started to trying to find out what to do as i started to dig it out and found this site only wish that i had found it before i started to dig it. I rented a dozer and dug it myslef just had i my mind to dig a hole and let it fill up. By accident and no idea how to design one it all worked out right. Damn held had to take my tractor and cut one bank down about 4 inches for an emergency spillway now just have to go and put some matting down and rocks to keep it form washing. But through it all looks like i might have a keeper.

Would like to say thanks to all who give adive on this fourm. Should i ever build another one will have a better pre thought and plan.

In Mineola,TX we got a whopping 9+ inches! Two ponds over the spillway and now working on filling the other larger one downstream. Bodes for a good year since these ponds usually don't fill to this point until January!

It's feast or famine in Texas at times isn't it?

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil, most of us are still waiting on the feast part.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I have a little over 3000 sqft of roof work to be done, so y'all can count on more rain soon! But it's still great with me, bring it on!!!

I went there last weekend. I had gotten 2 inches and then another .45 inches Saturday. The pond is up about 4 inches. But, I have a long way to go. About 10 to 12 more feet actually.

When this was posted I collected 10.5" in my gauge off that system. the pond was down 24" and was only 6" low after the rain. We got another 1.5" yesterday and had another hard downpour just now so ill have to go check the gauge. At this rate my stand pipe should be seeing action fairly soon.
