I have a nice pond and have lots of bald cypress growing in and around it. I would like to control filamentous green algea without killing my cypress trees.
Also I doubt there is anything that will kill the algea without killing the green bloom.
Has anyone had any luck in this situation?

Welcome to the forum Bulletstriper,
Don't have any experience for your specific situation, but I'll throw something out there for you to ponder:
How about Tilapia?
I wouldn't think they'd be hard on a cypress tree or a plankton bloom.

Thanks guys for pondering my question. I might read the label on Sonar to see if it will hurt the trees. I know it is pricey, but my pond doesn't have significant runoff acers.
If I do the soil samples from the bottom and lime the pond will that also help reduce the FA?
I will try to post some pics tomorrow. Tilapia are an option for the skillet here though. lol...

I might read the label on Sonar to see if it will hurt the trees. SONAR isn't likely to have any impact on trees (besides saplings that have their feet "wet") - but it also won't have any affect on FA since it is a herbicide. Algaecides shouldn't have any affect on your trees. However, controlling FA without also impacting the phytoplankton might prove challenging. The judicious use of Cutrine Plus Granular within shallow areas that represent nurseries for FA (before the FA detaches from the bottom and migrates with wind) might be a viable option.
