Look at the size of that beautiful thing. Splendid job in raising such a fine specimen. Well fed and very muscular body structure.

Beautiful fish. I usually find a few dead ones every year.
Two ponds, 13 and 15 acres on the Mattaponi River.

The thing about it is no way that dead fish could have got where it did without "something" moving it...it is a area that has big rocks and he wold have to got over the rocks and past them a few feet..hard to picture the hawk getting that thing out of the water..I tried to get my brother to climb out of the boat walk on the bank and get a pic of it but he wasn't dumb enough to do that..lol

Don't hold your big bass by just the jaw like that. Support them with your other hand near their anal fin. You can really goof them up that way...
Great looking bass though!

That bass would be in the top 15 fish to come out of here a buddy got one a little bigger last week. The funny thing is 4 years ago a friend and his gf were fishing from the dock we came in amd they said we caught a big one i thought sure and then they said we have pics on our phone....we look and were shocked it was a freak of a bass it looked 4 inches longer then anything i have seen since.(i have got 26 inch bass from here)..they hadnt fished in 20 years so they had no idea what they had...the cameras broke the pics were gone...i saw the guy yesterday and he said he found a pic of the fish in a old backup file and is going to send it to me..i will post it when he does...

So you think the hawk nailed this fish?
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

On one hand it is hard to picture the hawk getting this fish out of the water but where it was it could not have drifted to this spot something had to put him there ...I saw the bald eagle out today maybe he could but the fish hadn't been dead long and the eagle would not have left the fish...I don't see any other way it could have happened...

Just never heard of a hawk attacking a fish in the water. I have a resident hawk in the area that has no interest in my ponds.

So, the LMB that the Hawk was eating on was in the 10 lb. range?
That's huge!
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

It is a private 100 acre lake I'm president.(I was dumb) It was a turkey hawk pretty big...It was at least 10 pounds..they spawn right where this was so my theory was the fish was a few feet out from the rocks and the hawk had to just move him a few feet to get him back on land. Nobody else was on the lake so it's not like someone else could have caught him and tossed him on shore. I'm not sure what happened to the tail on that fish this is an area where the big fish spawn and we have 50 pound plus catfish so he got into it with something I guess...I saw a bass eat a baby duck about 10 yards from where this bass was..We are lazy we should have been throwing jerk baits the last few months but we know they will come to about 7 spots. (the big fish) and we know what they will hit so we wait until they come to our places and will hit our baits..lol
I posted 2 more from yesterday in the last pic you see those big rocks in the background the big bass was over the top of those rocks and a few feet on shore.
