I recently bought AM500 from one feed store for $38 and bought AM400 from a different feed store for $45. The feed store I normally go to told me they couldn't get the AM400.
Does AM400 normally cost more then AM500 or is the difference caused by getting the products from different stores?

At least some of the difference in price is due to AM400 having more protein (45%) vs AM500 at 41% protein.

I feed a mix of the 400 and the 500- I pay $36 per bag for 400 and 500.

Usually here 400 costs a couple dollars more than 500 and 600 which are the same.

can you please explain to me some examples of situations or goals to use aquamax 400/600 combo over 500/600 combo
I see the difference in protein, but i dont know what goal one would have to use 400 over 500
thanks

Dustin the 400 would probably be used for smaller fish. I use it for CNBG stockings. It's roughly half the size of 500.
After the first spawn, I use a 400/500 mix like kegger to feed a variety of different CNBG sizes.

I am using 400\500 for caged 3-4 inch CNBG. The smaller ones like the 400 and the larger ones seem to prefer the 500. And, since I now have the 400, I am feeding 2-3" BG hanging around shoreline structure

Dustin I use the 400/500 mix for the same reason FirelsHot does, plus some of the 400 sinks. I see some of the smaller fish picking it up off the bottom. I know it's rare, but I've seem some of the 3-4 inch redear pick it off the bottom. I plan on mixing in some 600 this year as well.
