Growth on bass

Hi, can anyone tell me why this bass developed this ugly growth after it was tagged, it been tagged about one month. must not hurt it because he hit a crank bait. Thanks Danny

That's probably an irritation fibroma.

I wa going to say granuloma. Maybe a little different histologically, but basically 6 of one, a half dozen of the other. It is a localized response to tissue irritation or foreign body.

May be where you put your finger when it was tagged. Slime coat damaged , scale possibly damaged or removed and ... irritation fibroma/granuloma.

That can happen anytime a fish is handled. I would not worry about it though. It looks in good condition otherwise.

rub gently with a Tucks pad and feed soft food, should be good to go in a few days.

Looks like a granuloma to me, but could also be a fibroma.
