My pond is about 80' by 150' and is about 10' deep. I was wondering has any one tried hooking a long chain to a spike tooth drag and pull through pond to remove weeds, more specific peat moss?

Are you sure you mean peat moss? Are you sure you're not talking about filamentous algae (aka pond scum)? I wasn't aware peat moss grew in ponds but more likely bogs.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Jo: i think we can assuume it is filamentous algae, if not, it is easily something you want to control. If you search Filamentous algae, or FA, I think you will get lots of information on how to control it, including some discussions on raking it. Even if my assumption is wrong there aren't many types of pond weed that you cannot rake out. If you put a picture on the forum some of our experts can advise you if it one of the few where it is not wise to rake because with a few species it raking and breaking the stems can cause it to spread.

Jo, it is almost certainly filamentous algae, but to answer your question, manual removal is a back breaking task! The water weight alone is hundreds of pounds per pull....

It is actually spagnum moss that will totally consume the pond and make it into a bog. The field 80 feet away is a 120 acre bog that now has grass growing on it. If you dig down 2' you can pull up hole decaying plants. I did not know it would make into my pond so fast. I plan on hooking a spike tooth drag to a long chain and pulling it with my tractor or back hoe

Learn something new every day. Didn't know this was a harvestable crop in the US. Thanks for the education Jo: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_does_sphagnum_moss_grow

I've used several mechanical methods to remove weeds of various types. One example that worked well on some variety of rooted weed was a 100' 1/2" diameter cable with a couple of tractor wheel weights strung on it. We hooked either end of the cable to tractors and cleared an entire bay of weeds in 2 or 3 pulls. I'd say we removed 6-8 yards of weed/muck out of that bay in an hour or two. Hardest part was getting the weights back out of the giant clumps of weed structure up on the shore.
we then piled the stuff up some distance away and let it rot. Makes a great fertilizer once it sits out and decays for a few months. SURE does stink though.
