Does EDI(sold by diffuser express) make the diffusers for Vertex? The EDI FlexAir™ Disc Fine Bubble Diffuser Unit looks just like the Vertex diffuser except the main body is purple on the Vertex unit and gray on the EDI diffuser.
The specifications are very similar:
EDI 7"(measurement taken from the membrane diameter) Standard diffuser design flow is 0.5-2.5 SCFM with an overall diameter of 9" or 229mm using an EPDM membrane.
Vertex 9" diffuser ( measurement taken from the overall diameter) design flow is 0.5-2.0 CFM using an EPDM membrane.

Some company do doubt makes the diffuser for Vertex, but who is that company? One of the important features to look for is the size or length of the slits in the membrane disk. Smaller slits are usually better at producing smaller and more bubbles resulting in more water moved per cfm of air.

Savage...the membranes made by DEI are 1mm laser cut slits...Vertex has a proprietary membrane with .5mm, precision located laser cut slits...in essence, Vertex membrane bubbles are half as big and twice as efficient as the DEI membranes...the plastic frames are very similar, but all that matters is in the membrane.

EDI..Enviromental Dynamics International. Technical bulletin #142 pore size. EDI membranes are available in openings of 0.5 mm up through 2.5 mm as discussion of the benefits of each is appropriate. It should be noted the opening sizes are available in all materials including EPDM, silicone, polyurethane, and the PTFE coated membranes or special materials.
I think I'll call them on Monday to get some questions answered. Thanks for your input guys. Knowing the pore size was a big help!
