My uncle has a pond that grows a lot of vegetation around the waters edge and out to 3 or 4 feet of water. He doesnt have much FA and so was wondering if Tilapia would control this other vegetation. Thanks

Im not sure. Last time I was there last year, I saw what just looked like tall grass growing out a few feet in the water. Ill see if he can get a pic for me and I will post it sometime. I know there are chemicals to kill most anything, but he is frustrated with using them and was curious about the tilapia.

My personal experience is that they will eat "some" if that's all they have to choose from, but are like piranha on the FA....in my pond last year they didn't do much more than nibble on pond weeds here and there. But they HAMMERED the algae, and there was enough of that to keep em busy, and they go after it first...IMO

Airborn...Tilapia target FA first and then consume the least competed for vegetation first in the pond after FA is gone, from our observations.
