Has anyone ever raised a flathead catfish just to see how big it would get.
As I sit here contemplating what to do with all of the bass that I cull from my lake I started wondering...hmm...
Could I build a small pond and feed all of the culled fish from the main pond to a flathead?
Does anyone have any idea how much food they can eat everyday?
I know that it will change as the fish grows, but how much do you think that they would eat at 10 pounds, 20 pounds, 40 pounds, 60 pounds etc?
Thanks for any and all responses.
This also give me another good reason to give Australian Red Claw Crayfish a shot too LOL.

They approach huge weights. 120 or more pounds. Scuba divers (who work on the drains at Lake Texoma) say there big enough ones that could eat a human. Food is the limiting factor....

That scuba diver story is urban legend. You hear the same thing at every big lake LOL. I hear it all the time at Biggs Island Lake in VA. I know that they get huge. That is part of the intrigue. It was just an idea for a pet project.

The guy who hosts "River Monsters" used the same urban legend in his season premiere last night. He told it about Bagnell Dam at Lake of the Ozarks.
I've been hearing that story for 50 years, about nearly every big dam in the South.
