Here in the Great White North, the winter (that never really came!) is gone! All ice left the pond on Saturday March 17th and I measured the surface temp tonight and it is already 60 deg.F! The past couple of weeks have been in the 70's and it was 75 here today. Very strange what is happening on this planet these days!
The storms that have already ripped through some states seem strangely out of place. Don't these storms normally happen in August?
What is all this a sign of?

Temperature got to 71 here yesterday but there's still some ice on the backyard minipond. Going up to the cabin tomorrow but the webcams still show ice and snow there so I'm sure the big pond still has ice.

The ice is gone at the cabin, only snow in some shaded area's, this is 3 or 4 weeks earlier than ever before at the pond. The water temp. was 48.6 at 3 ft. but the trout were hitting the surface.

Here too - 4 weeks early in CNY - but never had a true snowpack. I could drive two miles in to the cabin every weekend if I wanted to.

Global warming is getting out of control soon people will vacation to Illinois to bask in the constant 70 degree weather and the beautiful beaches of the Mississippi River

I had a side of home grown asparagus tonight with dinner. I've never picked it in March!

Freeze warning tonight in northern Indiana. At 12:15 A.M. it's 38 F.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I'm in Cleveland tonight and it is cooler here as well. Back home, it also got cool, but Wednesday is supposed to be back up there. All in all, not too shabby! By the time I get home the Perch should be done spawning.

I think we may have dodged the bullet here last night. I wasn't up early enough to see if we had frost but some flowers in the back seem fine. Perhaps we has a slight breeze to keep radiational cooling down.
We could still get frost up until early May or slightly beyond though.

Pretty much most of the State of MI was in a freeze warning when I got up at 4:20 this morning. Lake Michigan kept the temps up and only a few places toward the east side got a bit chilly. Our low got to about 38F. Sounds to me that a few of the forecasters are acting a bit extreme! Oh well, weather happens
