Pond Build in 2001. Started leaking next year after grading land for my new house 100 yards away. 2003 cored out west side and found a 20ft peat vain. Repacked clay on south side. (pond still had water in deep end by dam). Still leaks. 1/4 still has water in it and great fish. Now the exposed bottom is rocky. See photos for more. When we get lots of rain it will fill up.
Please help any ideas on how to stop the leak and save my huge fish? Can I put a liner in while water is still there and save the fish? Install a well?
I doubt that the liner could be properly installed without totally draining the pond.
While wells sound like a good idea, they really don't seem to work out. Here's the numbers: One inch of water over one acre is 27,000 gallons. It takes one heckuva well and deep pockets to do any good.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Boy, if I say "sic em", you'd better look for something to bite. Sam Shelley Rancher and Farmer Muleshoe Texas 1892-1985 RIP
Dig out one end deeper and dam it in make sure it is correctly sealed with clay.. Break the damn so the fish and water from the higher end could flow into the newly sealed end.. Repeat process on other end.. This is basically a dream scenario but your options with saving the fish are very very limited..
I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..
