Can you lime large lakes?

They are thinking of liming a large lake near me (Lake Lure, NC 720 acres).

I would think liming such a large lake would be impractical?

It depends. What is the water flow like? If the outflow is small it can be done successfully with a lot of lime. You can also treat for limited purposes if needed in smaller areas ,like a large cove or bay.

Thank you.

No idea but I do know they run the dam sometimes for power generation

I just thought liming was impractical on large lakes

It would certainly be impractical on my budget.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

So the lime could stay in the lake long enough to make it work?
