The vertical overflow pipe on our lake, made out of corrugated aluminum, has developed a small leak about 15 feet from the surface. I suspect the earth shifted during the drought here in Texas and caused it to crack or perhaps it has just rusted through. It was installed in the 60's. Is it possible to sleeve a new vertical pipe inside of the existing pipe or is the leak, more like a fast drip, nothing to be concerned about? We are located a few miles north of Somerville, TX.

Have you thought about going down (scuba) and taking a look at the problem? You could probably fix a small leak from the outside.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

That would be easy but the 20' vertical pipe is embedded in the levee. Water overflows down the top of the vertical pipe and connects to a horizontal pipe that runs through the base of the levee and exits on the backside of the levee. Think of it as a L shaped pipe.

You must have a pretty good sized dam. I've only seen a couple like that and they were on larger ponds/lakes. I'm not sure there is a quick and/or easy fix. I'm also not sure it is a big problem since it is probably water that has wicked through the dirt that makes up the dam. If it were more than a drip I would be concerned about a leak that is finding its way to the pipe.
Get in touch with Pond Dam Piping. They are an advertiser and I think have seen just about everything.

Dave - Thanks for the much appreciated feedback and website! The levee is rather large and dams up an old creek bed. The lake itself is 5 acres.
