I have 4 acres L shaped house on acre lower part of L on one acre with three acres of pasture behind me. I want a pond one or more acres to fish with grandson. north louisiana area and my pasture does slope but not much mostly flat. also the area does go behind relatives houses and grandmother has one back there she said i could use. Unsure of what steps to take but highly motivated. cant afford 30K for pond. So I joined to see if possible to learn to build my own pond. I think if i go 1 acre i can spread dirt on other acres and not have to pay to get rid of it.

Luke, Welcome to the forum!
Read everything you can here until your eyes are bloody. There's a TON of information on here.
While you are here, go to the main page, look at the Pond Boss Store section, and click on books and order the one titled "Perfect Pond, Want One?
That will get you on the right track quickly, and give you something to read if the power goes out.
