Sorry to start new with a problem… but I believe I have Euglena covering the surface of my pond. I sprayed it with cooper (eathtec with cidekick) a week a go and the next morning the pond was clear. Unfortunately after24 hours it started to return. What can I use to get rid of the Euglena? Any help would be great

ErikS, welcome to Pond Boss, if you could give us more info on the pond it might help the experts give you the best advice, such as size, depth, and water source.

Thanks. Size is about 190 x 90. It probably is about 8' deep in the center and I estimate it has about 750,000 gallons of water. It is solely spring feed and has no outlet or inlet. While I have had some algae issues before nothing like this. The pond has three aerators and has fish, crayfish and turtles.

ErikS I don't know much about Euglena only what I've read on the internet and you've probably looked up the same info, hopefully one of the experts will give you some suggestions. Have you seen this product, not sure if it would be a good remedy. https://www.lakelawnandpond.com/SonarRTU.aspx?ItemGroupID=51

I agree Sonar will probably work, but I need a permit in NY and I ma not sure what else it may destroy. Thanks. I am checking into both.

Erik, can you scoop some out, put a little bit on a white paper plate and take close up picture of it? I'd like to see what it looks like.

Hello ! I am also a new member. Would a newcomer be warmly welcome here? Good day you guys! Absolutely! Where's Bella located?? ================== ErikS: As for controlling Euglena with SONAR (fluridone), don't waste your money. I really don't know of any products that are labeled for Euglena (and it's likely that none of them "want" to have any impact on this type of aquatic organism). It certainly isn't a plant or a form of algae. Bill Cody would be a better resource for details - but I suspect the Euglena will phase-out on its own within a few weeks (or so it has in situations of which I'm familiar).

Where's Bella located?? ================== Mr. Smith is very welcome to participate in pond management related discussion, but his streaming videos seem to have little application to fish or ponds, as we perceive them. His post was "moderated."
