Hello to all. I'm Steve and I live in North Carolina near the ocean. We are about 10 miles inland from the coast. Extreme flat land. We have 10 acres of land and I'm about to start digging my own pond. I have already marked it out and the total shoreline will be roughly 700 feet. The land here is clay on top of sand. The sand is about 4-4.5 feet below the clay. The pond will be used for peace and solitude as well as fishing. I haven't even started digging yet and already people are confusing me with different ways to dig it. I have lots of questions but I will ask them in the construction forum.
Thanks, Fishguy58

Welcome Steve! Not a dirt guy at all, but some experts are around here who are or have dealt with sand as a pond bottom. They'll chime in shortly I'm sure.
