I have been swamped lately with all sorts of projects that have kept me away from PB for quite some time now, so I thought I'd update everyone on what's going on. I've been busy constructing a new hatchery facility (from scratch), consulting on several aquaculture/aquaponics related projects, assisting with some commercial filtration system designs for a good friend of mine, taking care of the normal tilapia hatchery operations, renovating a commercial building in North Kansas City and relocating a healthcare business of mine to the new digs, raising our now 6 month old twin boys and on and on. I decided that this simply wasn't enough stuff to keep me busy (I am beginning to think I'm crazy), so we started construction on our new home recently as well. It took about 3 years of going through re-zoning, subdividing, planning and designing to get to the point of breaking ground. We started on the new house just 3 weeks ago, but here's where we are at today. This is my backyard. A 12 acre pond/mini-lake. Welcome to White Brook Farm. I've lived on or worked around small family farms for much of my life and believe it's a wonderful environment for raising children and living a happy, healthy life in general. Combined with also being a pond management nerd and just overall fish geek, this is an absolute dream come true for me, as well as my wife, Sarah. I plan to update this thread as things progress. Hope you enjoy as I take you through our ongoing home building journey!

I was wondering where you went! Welcome back. That's a beautiful place. At that rate, you'll be moving in before the winter.

Thanks everyone! It's great to be back on the forum. It truly has been a LONG time. Just to give you all a bit of an idea of scale, the dock you see in the lower right hand corner of the pond in the overhead picture is 72 feet long. If you look REEEEEEALLY closely, you might notice that there are 2 pontoon boats tied up to each side of the walkway just in front of the platform portion. One of them is a 20 footer, and the other a 24 footer. I'm hoping to make it out to the property on Friday to take some more pictures of the house progress. It should be fully under roof at that point assuming the weather cooperates with us. So... stay tuned for more pics coming soon!

Good to see you back. Have you considered taking a day off and just going fishing?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Well, it's been a while... hehe... Thought I'd update the thread with a fairly recent picture of our new home. The house was completed in November 2011. We've really enjoyed the new place, but sadly, I've been so busy with various commitments, I have done very little fishing since we moved in. I'm going to make a conscious effort to change that next year.
