KC3, what is in the pond (plants, fish) and what are you using for a filtration system?
If you feed, how much and how often?
BTW, welcome to the forum!

You almost can't prevent it. I used to get this in my 200 gallon aquarium all the time also. The only way you could keep it at bay is by cleaining and real good filters. They make a scrub brush to that you can scrub the sides of the pond with. If it's only 90 gallons I would clean it with an aquarium siphon hose at least once a month. Take out about 30 gallons while cleaning and replace water with correct chemicals for the water so the fish will be ok. Hope that makes since. Good Luck

This is a natural, beneficial type of biofilm that forms on any surface that is submerged or constantly wet. If you have fish, there is no way to prevent it without causing, if not immediate, then long term physiological damage to the fish.. DO NOT start throwing chemicals into your pond. They are subject to do more damage than good and are, at best, a 'Band Aid' approach to any water quality problem. This particular form of biofilm actually contributes to maintaining the proper water quality.

Well what I meant by chemicals is if you refills his pond with a garden hose he needs to put in the correct chemicals to make the garden hose water stable for fish. Like for example there is a chemical called Start Right and will kill all the chlorine in the water and all that. That tank needs to be cleaned once a month or so at least depending how many fish are in it and how much he feeds his fish.
