Hello all. I finally registered after years of looking into this site for indepth information on my favorite sport fish......the florida strain largemouth. This site is amazing-practically anything you want to know about what goes into a well balanced, big fish producing pond/lake. Great site!

Welcome James... There are definitely some very knowledgeable guys on here. Glad you've found the forum helpful. Do you subscribe to the magazine as well?
Tell us more about yourself... Do you have a pond of your own?

The only pond I've had up to this point is a koi pond. I'm looking into some land over by buena vista lake in socal that seems perfect for a 1 to 2 acre fish pond. Maybe I'll call it a "fish farm" and get some huge grant from the feds! LOL I work as a traffic officer for the republic of California. I got an old ranger bass boat I ride around in my off time. I find myself facinated with the ecosystem required to produce quality bass. I've been face to face with a few 10 pound + fish locally. How the fish got so big on what we cannot see under the surface of the water is facinating. I'm sure the yearly fall/winter trout plants help!!

The trout plants are a huge factor in how large they grow, plus the Florida genetics. A year 'round growing season figures into the equasion too. In those lakes, when they aren't feeding on trout, there is a healthy population of BG and RES.

There was a fairly recent PB article about trout feeding LMB I believe.
