Will be quick as internet limited.
Anyone idea on type of wound on the side of this cat, How and why?
Also, is this not a blue catfish, verses a channel.

It looks like a its from a fight. Catfish are very aggresive and will fight over territory. We put our catfish in a rock salt and water bath before we put them back because it puts the slime thats on there skin back on them and helps them heal. That looks like a blue cat to me, channel cats are green and brown in color where blue cats are blue in color, some can be almost white in color.

Looks likes a male channel cat in spawning color and the wounds to go along with spawning season.

I have to agree with CJBS2003 it is a channel cat, blues always seem to be more of a white color around her and there heads are a bit different. Plus you can see a hump on their back.

It looks like a typical catfish-to-catfish wound. When I've hauled medium to large catfish, they all have similar wounds from each other. I don't think it is anything to worry about. It will heal.
