Back to geometry now:
Can anyone help me find the right equation for pond volume?
We'll make a few generalizations:
Assuming a round surface area of 1.5 acres or about 70,000 surface square feet, I get a radius of roughy 150 feet; assuming and a "bowl" shaped contour with a max depth of 20 feet, what are the equation models that will give me the volume?

the volume of 1/2 a sphere would approximate (and probably overestimate some) your pond assuming a round surface area and bowl shaped contour.....[(4)(pi)(r3)/3]/2
r3 = radius cubed and 1 cubic foot of water ~7.5 gallons.
edit post, oops, yeah that would way over estimate the pond volume as your depth is only 20 feet...back to drawing board.

Surface area times average depth gives you pond volume. The standard WAG for average depth is .4 times maximum depth. If your max depth is 20 feet, then the average depth would be 8 feet. This gives you 8 X 1.5 or 12 acre-feet of water. It's something like 325,000 gallons per acre-foot so I guess you've got 3.9 million gallons of water.
