I am a subscriber and have a question regarding putting screening material across the spillway. I have a one acre pond and have a spillway cut with a machine by the dam sewn with grass seed. We want to stock it now and put a lot of baitfish in it now. We have talked about putting mesh up to keep them from overflowing but with alot of water pushing against it will cause a lot of pressure to the ground. Any ideas?

Usually fish will want to swim upstream. Yes, you will lose some fish if it's not in place, but the screen will take a lot of maintenance during periods of very high water to make sure it doesn't blow out from the debris piled against it. If it gets packed enough, the water might be directed over another part of the dam where it isn't supposed to go and cause damage to the dam.
