just built a new pond with a track hoe.put water in it from a creek it filled up in about 3 days.turnd pump off 14 hours later dropped 1 inch does that sound about right for a new pond.the pond is 30feet by 30feet by 7 feet deep the pump i used pumped 4 gal an hour.clay liner

Welcome, colonel! Glad to have on the forum!
Keep an eye on it, but losses measured in inches do seem to be the norm for new ponds as it takes awhile for water to wick into the surrounding soils. Just watch carefully to ensure that it doesn't suddenly get worse.
Post a pic - newly filled ponds deserve some publicity!
