I just went to the local general store to get a few things for lunch for tomorrow. Jumped in my truck and heard that "ping" sound. Seat belts were fastened, then looked at the gas gauge. Empty light was on, and I am saying WTF! I had just under half a tank when I parked Saturday night and you could clearly see where gas was running down the side of my truck.

I talked to a guy at Ashcroft's (gas station) about a mile down the road and he said the 7 Mile Inn got hit last night also. He also said that he has been hearing that people have been getting siphoned for several weeks now.

Last week, the news had a warning about home invasions and break-in's on our road. They do have two in custody for that (way to go Peace Officers), but I wonder if there are more out there in the same crowd?

Gas is usually around 3.65/gal up here.

Anybody ever seen "Mad Max" laugh

It is just something you dont want to deal with, but nothing I will loose sleep over.

Maybe time for a security system. Did not think I would need one living in the boonies.

My security system isn't the best, but it will have to do. The last time it was triggered it was me. I got home from Antelope hunting in Wy and pulled the car behind the stable to unload the wrapped meat directly into the freezer. Before I was done the neighbor and his buddy walked over, .45's in hand to see what was going on. His wife said she saw lights go behind the stable and that is unusual........ grin

BGK, is there a way you can park real close to another car (gas openings almost
touching) or building, so that it will be hard for those losers to get at their target???

Just do it...

I'll be getting one this week. Never thought I would get hit out here. When I lived in Grand Rapids, MI, I had a locking gas cap, but that was a long time ago. Needless to say, bits and pieces of my truck would come up missing. Glad I moved out of there.

The World is a pretty sad place, for sure!

I had some diesel left in a 5 gallon gas can a couple of weeks ago that walked off between filling the tractor, parking it, and unloading the truck. Noticed the worthless 19 year old down the street was having problems starting his car the next day and had to get his grandfather to help him figure it out. Miraculously, the empty can reappeared in the bed of my truck the next day after I had a conversation with his friendly, but very low IQ, cousin. He is 0 for 2 this month between that and jumping into my backyard at 3:30am last week with my neighbors hot on his tail and finding me prepared wink for him on the other side. Thieves seem to be getting pretty ballsy around here lately.

Trouble starting the car.. Poetic justice.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Sorry for your drama. That's not cool.

I've been blessed so far. I run a lawn care operation and keep multiple gas tanks on my trailer, unsecured.

Never had an issue (knock on wood). While this world is full of bums, there ARE still a LOT of good, decent folks around.

Sad to hear. Hope it's not going to get worse.

I'm glad my vehicles are in a locked garage. I also have a dog that hears everything little sound outside!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I had figured the crime rate would go up with this economy. However, at least in the area I work it has gone down or stayed the same.
