Very nice looking place. If you haven't already introduce the owner to Pond Boss.

the concrete spillway was already there, it isnt an emergency spillway, its the only way water leaves the pond. the couple works in the yard all day, usually using a small garden/lawn tractor pulling a trailer. he wanted us to pave the top of the dam so he would have a better walking surface, place to drive his tractor smoothly, and drive the mini suv to side of the house to unload groceries. they were great customers for me this past year. we paved there main driveway also early this year.

Scott...thats still cool that instead of using the typical pipe under the road to allow water flow that it could be done this way since as you say the spillway was already there. that blacktop looks great. how does blacktop compare in cost to concrete? when i build my lakehouse I will need kind of a long driveway and just assumed blacktop would be about half the cost of concrete? plus blacktop has a certain backroad "country feel".

Awesome job on the paving and that's a great looking property.
Not sure they built it for this purpose but that's a great jogging track or even walking track for evening/morning walks/jogs.

zep... paving is kinda like pond management "it all depends". in this part of the country 2000 sq ft is a good breaking point. anything less than 2000 i can do in concrete for less $, above 2000' usually asphalt is less $. but if the driveway already has proper base stone (crusher run) we can pave a small driveway fairly cheap. sometimes people have the wrong stone on their driveway and we have to excavate, install crusher run, and then pave, which is pricey. my favorite is an old country driveway that has been there for years with crusher run base and the customer decides to pave. we just go in and dress up the existing stone base and pave it. makes it easy on the customers pocket book and they get a great job..

Ok Scott thanks. Hey do you do much "stamped" or "patterned concrete"? When I had my patio and sidewalk done it seems like it didn't really add a huge amount extra to go with patterned vs standard concrete, but does that hold true for a large driveway? I am a huge fan of the patterned/stamped/stained concrete look. My patio & sidewalk at my home in town I had done 4 years ago:

no, i dont do any stamped concrete, but from what i have heard it is pretty pricey. this weak economy has really weeded out contractors that were specializing in that type work. ebay is usually full of stamps and such. i really like stamped concrete, your's looks great..
