Should I be worried?

In 2 club events we have had 3 nice 2 pounders bought in and 2 of these fish...2 pound head and a shad body. It look like these fish have no internal organs. Is there a natural reason for this or should we be worried?

Did you do a biopsy and see if the LMB had a plastic worm or soft plastic bait stuck in it's intestinal tract or stomach?

That was my first thought, too, Scott. That fish looks just like some pictures I've seen either here or in the magazine when a fish had a blocked "system" as a result of a plastic bait lodged in place somewhere along the plumbing.

What is the elevation of the lake? I have heard of brook trout stocked in high altitude mountain lakes and this happens(big head/little body)due to the nutrient-poor water conditions at high altitudes.

I see you are from Indiana - not much of an altitude issue there...maybe the lake is hurting in nutrients!?

According to the WR charts, a 15" LMB should weigh 1.7#. To get to 15", it has to weigh at least that, but then it could lose weight.
