Hey, all. I've read so many threads, I can't keep my head on right. laugh

To simplify things, here's what I'm after:

#1. A dirt cheap shoreline (no dock) feeder (battery powered).
#2. The ideal fish feed for 3-7" GSF & BG.
#3. An online vendor that ships such feed.

Thanks!

Buy a Kenco Directional Straight Shooter feeder. Place it on a stand, attach a 5 gallon bucket to it. Buy extra rubber impellers - you'll need them. Raccoons tear them up, but if no 'coons in the area you should get a year's use or a bit more out of the impeller.

This will clog if you try to feed regular generic "floating catfish food" from the local feed store. (The food is too big in size to flow well thru the feeder) It works well with Purina AquaMax Grower 500 food. You want food that is 1/8" to 3/16" diameter maximum in size to work well with this feeder.

#2. The ideal fish feed for 3-7" GSF & BG.

You need food that is about the size of the fish's eye. Purina D505 will grow them quicker than lower protein feed.
#3. An online vendor that ships such feed.
Are you sure you want to pay the shipping costs? Go here: http://aquamax.purinamills.com/ type in your zip code and let your fingers do the driving for you. Ask them if they can order (if they don't stock it) Purina AquaMax Grower 500 Fish Food. Thanks!

I checked the link and found a couple of vendors nearby. One of them is the chemical supplier for my business - so I ought to be able to strong-arm them into ordering me a few bags.

How far does this feed go, though? With 1/3 acre and about 120 panfish?

It all depends on how well the fish take to the food. I was going thru a bag a month on my pond, but the fish have slowed down on feeding in this heat. It'll be a lot slower at first unless the fish were pellet trained as young'uns.
