My wife and I just purchased 30ac w/a 5 ac pond. (He pond is a year old and already has baitfish stocked; This is Our dream home. I am looking for some help in further stocking and aeration, also I want to make sure of creating not only a good wildlife space, but a place to teach my grandchildren the wonders and enjoyment of fishing/plus the various wildlife that inhabits not only the pond but rest of the farm.

Welcome to Pond Boss! Experts will be along shortly to help you. Until then, answering a few questions will help people give you advice.
-How deep is your pond?
-What fish species are you currently aware of in the pond? Roughly what sizes are they?
-How is your pond fed? (runoff/spring/creek/well)
-What are your goals for the pond as far as fish? Do you want large fish, lots of fish, and what species?
-Is your pond aerated, or do you plan to add aeration?
-Do you plan to feed the fish?
-Do you have any pond goals beyond fishing? (swimming, wildlife habitat, dog training, etc.)
-Any pest animals noted by the pond? (herons, nutria, otters, etc.)

Do you have any pictures of the place, it sounds great?
Once we have some more info I'm sure you'll find the answers you seek and be presented with plenty of suggestions.
Welcome aboard Ontos...

ontos0311, Welcome to Pond Boss. I am over in the Sulphur Springs area and go through Lone Oak a couple times a month. Lone Oak happens to be where I got my last speeding ticket several years ago. I retired out here 5 years ago and have 40 acres with a beautiful 2 acre pond that is doing very well. I have learned alot from the Pond Boss friends through the years. I am not an expert but would be happy to share some of my experiences with you sometime.

ontos, would love to see some pictures of your place once you get settled. I often pass through Lone Oak, Texas on my way to Lake Fork and my place on a private lake near Quitman, Texas. I have looked at properties near Lone Oak, Point, and Campbell, Texas. You are a bit closer to Dallas making the "Friday after work drive" a little easier so I am jealous. Best of luck with your new place.
Fishing has never been about the fish....

-How deep is your pond? 18 to 19 ft
-What fish species are you currently aware of in the pond? Roughly what sizes are they? sunfish and fathead minnows; 9months old
-How is your pond fed? (runoff/spring/creek/well)runoff
-What are your goals for the pond as far as fish? Do you want large fish, lots of fish, and what species? A place to spend quality time with my horde of grandkids; As well as teaching them some of the wonders of the outdoors (like my gradparents did). I plan to have a variety of species: FSBass, Sunperch, Channel cats.
-Is your pond aerated, or do you plan to add aeration? I have been investigating aeratio, any suggestions would be welcome.
-Do you plan to feed the fish? I am not sure...
-Do you have any pond goals beyond fishing? (swimming, wildlife habitat, dog training, etc.) wildlife and enjoyment, mostly.
-Any pest animals noted by the pond? (herons, nutria, otters, etc.) just some herons
Pictures in a coupleof days when I locate camera in moving boxes!
