After some ineffective searching, I have my second question for you guys. My (about 1.5 year old) pond is pretty muddy looking. It was a nice, healthy looking cloudy. I thought maybe it was my first batch of skrats causing this? Do the CC muddy the waters? Or is this some sort of bloom? I did have a heavy rain (the pond is surrounded by hay fields), but that was plenty long ago and should be cleared up by now. Could it be from fish spawning? Thanks,

Hey, my pond will be 2 yrs old in Aug and it has never cleared beyond a visibility of one ft. It is completely a clay based pond and I presume it will never clear up. I have two neighbor ponds and one is clear and one is a murky as mine, go figure.
Do nature a favor, spay/neuter your pets and any weird friends or relatives.

Have either of you done a jar test? Put some water in a glass jar and leave it undisturbed for a few days. If the water clears and the solids settle out to the bottom, you have something mechanical muddying up the water. If it does not clear, you have a chemistry problem that can often be easily addressed.
