has anyone constructed a floating garden for their lake, tank, pond . i am thinking about a 8 x 12 wood construction, filled with dirt, mulch, and planted with insecct and waterfowl feed plants , supported by 4 to 6 sealed 20 gal. plastic barells. any experience, suggestions appreciated. thanks dlee1938@att.net

d lee, Do a search on floating islands, on this site, and you should turn up quite a bit of info. There are a number of different styles using several different kinds of building materials. I have one that started out as pvc pipe covered with a plastic woven cloth and a dozen different types of plants.
I let it float free for about a year, then I tried to anchor it and finally it found its own spot and anchored its self to the bank in one corner of the pond.
1/4 & 3/4 acre ponds. A thousand miles from no where and there is no place I want to be... Dwight Yoakam

I was reading on these type threads and did one in my pond. I used cypress stumps that float on their own and look natural. Turned out nice.
