I managed to have a couple of trout servive the summer heat, thanks to all the rain in June and July. Although the pond is now down almost 4 feet from full pool I am thinking about winter.

Winter will be upon us in NH shortly and I'd like to know if I need to feed my trout over the winter?.

Scruffy, you shouldn't need to feed them when the pond starts to ice up, I feed mine usually till late Oct. or Early Nov. when they start to loose interest in feed.
Do you normally get alot of leaves in your pond, and does that seem to slow the leak down?

I get plenty of leaves and pine needles in the fall. In the spring I usually rake the ones I can reach out. The pond did pretty well this year with all the rain, but when the rain stopped it went down pretty fast. Looking around the pond there are dark areas which I suspect are leaves. Not as many as I expected.

I only have a couple of trout at best after the heron came to visit. I was out watching them feed on midges yesterday evening. The PS have grown pretty large. I'm hoping all will last through the winter. I'm sure they'll have a better chance if the pond fills some.

How has the db-100 worked out in fixing your leak?

Hopefully the wet and cool weather will bring your pond up.
I've had some success with the DB100, here's what I posted.

What about getting a Thermo Pond Heater . It worked for me at keeping the ice out of a spot in my pond so I could feed my fish.

If you wanna try and feed them in the winter...get an ice auger and drill a hole...

Then get a brown luch bag, a rock, and put the rock and fish feed in the bag. Tie some twine to hold the bag shut and lower it to the bottom slowly.

Once at the bottom pull hard so the rock breaks the bag and the pellets come out and if they float they will now be just under the ice and the fish can feed if they want to...
