I am pretty new to this world. What is this that has popped up in the last week or so. Very dry here recently and my catfish have been in the pond for about a month.

Of course I can't tell from the photo, but it looks like Widgeon grass. Is it a submerdged plant with the tops floating on the water?

It is not attached at all. It freely floats around the pond.

Can you take a couple more photos with a higher-quality camera? It's hard to make out what it is from the photo due to the resolution; I can't tell if it's your camera or an improper exposure, but am betting on the camera.

Filamentous algae floating with some fish pellets. The blade looks like part of a immature cattail to me.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Me to Shorty or watermeal. If it is DW or WM you need to take action ASAP to get rid of it.

Not FA, it's too green and no dead froth making it float.
