Haven't been here in awhile. I'm thinking of digging a pond for hunting on my property. I'm thinking 1-1.5 acres, 5-6 foot deep. Here is my question, How many yards of dirt can be moved with a cat 325 excavator and 2 dump trucks in a day/week. I will be moving the dirt 50 yards away and the property is level and dry to drive on. It is an old hay field that will be brush-hogged. I've already got the water part worked out as far a water level, watershed, etc. I will be renting a 325 for a week and want to estimate how many yards I can move in that time. My excavator (friend) will be doing the digging and is excellent on a machine. He's not a pond builder, just an awesome excavator. The pond will be completely excavated due to the topography. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks Damon

A 1.5 acre pond with an average depth of 4 feet will be about 10,000 yards of dirt. You will need to move about 1500 yards per day which means loading a dump truck every four minutes for 8 hours.
How big is the bucket on that excavator?
Your operator should be able to fill a dump truck in minute or two.
