I don't think the [IMG] thing works with page links; here's a link to the page: http://ottosdirtservice.com/downtoearth.aspx

In my opinion the Chevy will always come out in front. No offense Mr. Lusk.

I won't get into the financial situation, but Chevy/GM makes the best all-around truck.

I suspect Mike Otto has a lot more experience getting things unstuck than Bob Lusk does.

I won't get into the financial situation, but Chevy/GM makes the best all-around truck. Never driven a Dodge with a cummins I see A little tip on getting unstuck. I saw this while hunting in west Texas this year and was amazed how simple this worked. While hunting one weekend a big oil rig truck got off the road and buried itself. I drove up and stopped to see if the guy needed any help. He told me help was on the way. I figured it would take a dozer to pull this guy out. A worker showed up with a few bags of quickcrete. As the driver put the rig in gear the other fella slowly poured the quickrete on the spinning tire. About a 1/2 way through the bag ,the cement started to attach to the tire. The truck started jummping and gaining traction. Next thing you know it was unstuck. I carry a bag of quickrete during huntng season just incase. The guy said that if your buy yourself you can lay a thick trail of quickrete and it will work as well. Haven't had to try it yet.

It's not the truck make, it's whats under the tires, I pulled out my snow plow guy who has a big chevy diesel dump body, with my little 5 speed ranger. BrandonA, that quickrete trick sounds good.

that is not a very impressive stuck job, its not even up to axle
it looks like all that Lusk had to do was put it in 4wheel drive
the proof is Otto only had 2 wheel drive to pull out
my buddy would laugh me down the road if i called for help with that little bitty stuck job

I believe that if a truck has open differentals it acutally is a 2-wheel drive...... We threw one of those Eaton electronic lockers in my dad's suburban and it really works great, but you have to unlock it if you are on dry pavement or the pressure on the asles is something fierce when it turns. His truck is only a 2-wheel drive, and even with that he still buried it up to the subframe behind my barn last year. Luckily my neighbor came over with his Dodge Cummins and popped it out pretty quick.

What Otto didn't tell you is that after he pulled me out (which took every bit of 3 seconds), I drove the rest of the way out, turned around, came back and hit the same mudhole at a different angle and came right through it. But, yes, his 1988 Chevy saved the day. I bow to the 88 Chevy.

Huh, I though it was state law in Texas that you must drive a four wheel drive pickup. Go figure.

Jeff Use to be but all you folks from California and elsewhere keeping moving in and don't obey the laws. My wife says four wheel drive just means you will get stuck futher from the house and have a longer walk.

The biggest problem with 4WD in Ohio is that lots of people think it helps them stop better on ice/snow.

I'm sure a lot of the cases of the stucks and totals nowadays are fool(ish) people believing the off road commercials.

The biggest problem with 4WD in Ohio is that lots of people think it helps them stop better on ice/snow. Must be the same everywhere... Nothing better than working a traffic accident in the snow and the guy says but I got a 4wd, I just don't know what happened... 4wd gets you going, but it sure doesn't get you stopped!

The biggest problem with 4WD Trucks in colorado is when a group of locals passes a another 4wd Truck with Texas plates driving slow and cautious on his honeymoon on a snow covered winding mountain road and flips the one finger wave out the window as they pass and then the Slow driving Texan Passes the three locals 2 miles up the road standing scratching their heads looking at their 4wd truck standing rear end up in the ditch they have a hard time getting pulled out. The slow driving Texans just waved nicely and smiled as they passed by.
The road goes on forever and the party nevers end...............................................

rockytopper, I want to apologize for my daughter, I told her to be more courteous when she passes flatlanders in the snow, her mother taught her how to drive. Hope you enjoyed your honeymoon.

Bob, Like the old saying goes that you'll reap ten-fold whatever you sow. It must be true. I razzed you about getting stuck and tonight not 10 minutes after buying a 200 gallon aquariun, 8' long in a 6' truck bed, the tie down strap broke and I left it in shards on the side of the highway. I'll be nice to you from now on. I PROMISE!!
