I have a client that loathes the green water in his 2.5 ac pond, that is loaded with big bream/panfish. Average depth is around six feet. He wants to dye it with black pond dye. Aeration is not an option due to the location. The lake has stayed green all year around due to its geographical location and nutrient load. I know he used to over feed, but we have adjusted his feeding regiment. If you dye a green lake, will that cause a DO crash? I never have added dye to a green lake, only lakes that get clear in winter and green-up in the spring. Would a light copper treatment first then dyeing be better? Any advice from past experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

mornin mr. brown. my first reaction would be to ask yer client what he wants out of his pond.........big bream or clear water....
the fertile water he has may be a large part of the reason his bream get so big.
but please let some experts chime in before taking my left coast sarcasm to heart.

S Brown, I'll be experimenting with a bacteria product this year, to attempt control of planktonic algae in a high nutrient level pond. A couple of other guys on the forum are particpating in the experiment as well. We'll see? http://www.pondboss.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=126963&fpart=1
